Agricultural and Horticultural Association. A T a Meeting of this Institution, held at Hart’s “ Exchange Hotel,” on Thursday, May 18, 1842. . JOHNSON the. Chair, The following Resolutions were unanimously adopted : Moved by Mr. Coopek, and seconded by Mr. A. Kennedy : 1. 1 bat the Resolutions proposed and adopted at the Public Meeting of the Bth instant, be confirmed, and that the Association be named “ The Auckland Agricul tural and Society ” Moved by Mr. Paton, seconded by Mr. Church : 2. That Messrs. Edward and Samuel Williams, of the Bay of Islands, be added to the list of our Vice-Presidents. Moved by Mr. Mason, seconded by Mr. Rich : 3. That the Report now read be adopted. Moved by Mr. M ason, seconded by Mr. Church : 4. That a Deputation consisting of the following gentlemen, namely— Dr. Johnson, Mr, Cooper, Mr. Rich, and Mr. Scott, do wait upon His Excellency the Officer Administering the Government, to obtain Ill's sanction for the selection of an eligible site for holding a Weekly Maiket. Moved by Mr. Rich, seconded by Mr. Cleghorn : 5. That a Monthly Market be estab fished in Auckland, to be held the last Saturday of eveiy mouth, for the sale of Live Stock, Grain, &c.; and a Weekly lUaiket, every Saturday, for the sale of Horticultural produce, &c. Moved by Mr. AppIEYARB, seconded by Mr. Church t 6. That the Committee be requested to draw up a Report ot this Meeting; col lecting all the iulormatioa possible relative to the productions of the country, and the expense of cultivating the different sorts of land in New Zealand; that the Report be prepared without delay, and, when ready, be published ; and that a copy of the Report be forwarded to the Societies at Wellington and Ntlson; and that Mr. George Rich, on bis arrival in England, be requested to band a copy of the Re port to the Royal Agricultural Society, England, the Highland Society of Scotland, to the New Zealand Company, and to the Secretary of State for the Colonies. Dr. Johnson having left the Chair, it was taken by Mr. Cooper, and the thanks of (lie Meeting given by acclamation to Dr. Johnson-, for his conduct in the Chair.
