THE QUEEN’S BIRTH DAY.
Really it is too bad that no LeVee was held, and no Bad given at Government House on Wednesday last., the anniversary of onr Queen’s birth. No announcement wha ever to the Public was made in the Government Gazette, last week, (the usual custom) whether it was to be kept as a holiday or not, and we cannot but remark that the only public demonstration of loyalty to our Sovereign was evinced by the troops in garrison. At twelve o’Clock they were paraded under the command of that gallant and old peninsular soldier, Major Bunbury, 80th Regt. A “ feu de joief was fired three hearty cheers given, and subsequently they went through several evolutions, which were done in a very creditable manner. Wb could not help remarking the very cleanly and soldier-like appearance of the men. Y e understand the detatehment of the 80th are soon to leave us to join he head quarters of their Regiment, previous to departure for “India.’ Whenever tWy go, we wish them health, happiess, and prosperity. We are given to expect that the worthy Major on his obtaining his Lieut. Colonelcy. (to which he is entitled on reaching India,) will again return to this Colony, and assist in advancing its Agricultural interests and welfare
