Auckland, Te Tuihana 26 April 1847 My dear father, Wiremu Kawaho, Greetings to you. I have great love for you. And I am grieving greatly for you. But what can I do? Your letter came to me, I read it, and I urged Te Patara [Buddle?] to let me return but I was not allowed, I could not. However, the Governor and I have spoken. No taku hoatutanga i a korua pukapuka ko Hone Ropiha, ka kite ia i nga ingoa o nga whenua, i Ngamotu, i Taranaki, i Waitara, i Te Taniwanoa[?], puta noa i runga i te maunga. E mea ana te Kawana ehara i a ia enei wahi, katahi ia ka kite. Ka mea atu ahau me aha te kupu i kia mai nei, kua riro to matou kainga i te taone; e mea ana
