P.S. (to foregoing letter) There has been a difficulty about money for Hawke's Bay. I never directed that the money should be sent. Much as is, amd may be required, and that a settlement should be made hereafter. There is but £54,000 of the English coin to be divided between Hawlce's Bay and Wellington. If Hawke's Bay requires more than its share, it can have it; but the balance will have to be paid for at 8-instead of 4 per cent. The settlement must be made by the Assembly.
