Octr. 29, 1872. My dear Mr.McLean, Commodore Stirling is at Auckland for a few days on his cruize round the Stations, and has telegraphed to me to ask if I wish him to do anything. In reply I shall ask him to look in at the Bay of Islands, Wangaroa, and Mongonui, wh. have not been visited lately by a man of war.
