Octr. 29, 1872. My dear Mr.McLean, Commodore Stirling is at Auckland for a few days on his cruize round the Stations, and has telegraphed to me to ask if I wish him to do anything. In reply I shall ask him to look in at the Bay of Islands, Wangaroa, and Mongonui, wh. have not been visited lately by a man of war. Is there any other place in the North that you wd. like him to visit? The "Dido" is to visit Tauranga after Lyttelton and Dunedin, touching en route at the Yrs.Faithfully, G. F. Bowen. The Honble.
