Wanganui 17th. January 1856 My dear Sir, I am in receipt of yours, enclosing Crown Grant for sections 115 and 116, with the conveyance of the same to Michael Meehan; which I will take charge of as requested, until the purchase is completed. I have agreed with the Kai Iwi natives to go to the Kahikatere, on Mr. Heurtis' land next Monday. I should probably have finished Aramoa before this, but the weather has been so wet as to prevent all out of door work. I went up to Jackson's land very soon after you left, and found that he was well within his own boundary. Tamihana and Epiha went with me, but Mr. Takarangi did not think fit to come. Mrs. Porter and the Powells desire their kind regards to you. Believe me yours very sincerely (Signed) D. Porter. To:- D. McLean Esq.
