Wellington 14th June 1866 Dear Maclean I write you a line to say that I saw Bishop Monrad and spoke eloquently in favor of Hawkes bay - begging not to settle anywhere until he had seen it. He says the report alluded to in Featherstones speech is "Hombog" - that he has but 3 or 4 in family and no present intention of settling more than that number, that he no doubt might from his connexion with Denmark induce many Danes to come here but at present he has nothing in hand of that kind. I am making out for my boys today and am nearly dead with influenza as is all Wellington. We shall open I fancy on the 30th. Yours very truly A. H. Russell
