Taranaki. 22nd. March 1872. Dear Mr. McLean. The bearer of this, Mr. Buchanan, visits Wellington, with a view, if possible, of getting employment; and having requested of me a letter of introduction to any friends I may have there; amongst others I refer him to, I can with pleasure venture to recommend him to your favourable notice; as, from my own personal knowledge, he is deserving of any post of trust, and I should say, a young gentleman of great integrity and eagerness to push his way on in the world. Hoping I have not troubled you much, Very truly yours, (Signed) William D. Webster.
