of a Letter from Te Kuri te Oho, to Te Morehu (Te Wherro.) Orahiri. To Te Morehu, Friend, salutations to you living yonder. I wish to tell you not to believe reports circulated by persons, but only what you know to be correct. Potana, (Nini Kukutai) did report what was said to him correctly. He proposed that the Hau Haus should live at Taupari. The reply was, why not at Te Kopua or Orahiri? But it was not meant seriously. It was through Po and Pata, who before matters are settled, wish to drag (the Hau Haus) to Taupiri; and so the reply about Te Kopua and Orahiri was given, though not meant. Keep fast hold of what you yourself have been told. Do not believe what others tell. All that I know to be true, is what was told you at first, and that still holds good. The real words were spoken to you only. If there is any change in them, you will receive a letter from me. (Signed) Te Oho.
