But the gun was gone, which was a difficulty in the way of supposing a suicide It turned out that the Native had borrowed a gun of a young man, who suspecting something wrong went out and found the body. Knowing that his gun would be forfeited as having been the instrument of death he had carried it off, and kept quiet about what had happened. Such is Charon's tale.
