Colonial Secretary's Office Auckland, 9th. January 1847. Sir, I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 21st. December, transmitting the translation of a letter received by you from the Chiefs of Wanganui, containing information respecting the intentions of Rangihaeata and Karamu; and to inform you that circumstances have so much altered since your letter was written, and the Troops have gone to Wanganui, that it does not appear necessary for His Excellency to take any steps in the matter.
