Our last accounts from Wellington are not the most favorable as to peace with the Natives; Are You at Taranaki? The Governor is very arbitrary here as to Land Claims and will not allow any traffic with the Natives in any shape as to land. I do not think that I ever saw Auckland so dull as to business chiefly owing to the unsettled state of the Land Claims. it is impossible that Auckland can go ahead until they are settled.
