at present, everything is going on very quitely - as soon as I return from Manga Hararu, and Waikere Moana lake, I will write and give you a general description of the country. I am requested by Ihaka Whanga and to write you and see if there cannot be some steps taken to prevent people trying to lease the lands that are to be handed over to the Friendly Natives - the Matiti Natives are trying to lease those lands up at Opoiti, both Paul and Ihaka are very much dissatisfied with the proceedings. They say that it was understood at the meeting that the land in question was to be surveyed and each tribe was to have their portion, if they go on as they seem to do the next thing they will be fighting amongst themselves Would your Honour do me the favor of puting the Vouchers through as soon as possible. I have made them out on H.B. P. G. Vouchers as I have no others. I will make arrangements as soon after shearing as possible to remove the sheep. I remain, Your most obt. servant George Burton To His Honour the Superintendent of Hawkes Bay Wellington
