June 5th. 1866 My dear Sir I have just read the enclosed note from Morris. As soon as I have held an enquiry on the subject I will send you down official notification. I presume as the body is buried (as it appears from the enclosed note), it will be useless to hold a coroners inquest moreover there are only two or three Europeans living within twenty miles of the spot, If it is to hold an inquest perhaps you would not mind writing and letting me know. The Honble. the N.M. paid us a visit here the other day. What a pleasant man he appears to be; if he is as pleasant among his friends as he is officially he must be much liked I should think? he tells me that I am sure to do the Turanga duty if not more - extra pay is of course out of the question. A. R.M. should live in the saddle, he very nearly did when he was Civil Commissioner, in fact R.M. situations were on the whole overpaid sinecures, and so on we parted with mutual satisfaction.
