August has been received, acquainting me of the return of Nini Kukutai from Te Kuiti, and also with news which he brought you. I am annoyed to learn that Manuwhiri has contradicted what he said to you, when you went to Te Kuiti, viz, - that a gathering should take place in Waikato. Nini Kukutai went to Te Kuiti of his own accord. He had no instructions from me to do so. I did not wish him to go and interfere with what you had settled. But don't you take any notice of Nini.
