Waiuku 27 May 1871. Dear Dr. Pollen, I got here on the Queen's Birthday but I can assure you that if the items the Ngatitiata have to grumble about were Soloman and the Queen of Sheba, I have not been told half the glory of the confusion confounded that I shall have to grapple with. I shall however try all I can to do that which is right between man and man. I do not know how long I shall be here as I have to deal with two chaps who have more spirits than blood in their veins. Yours e. John White.
