Napier Oct. 5th. 1868. Sir, In continuation of my last report. I have the honor to inform you that I attended the Native Meeting at Pakowai -- Karaitiana recd. the Europeans well and treated them very hospitably. The tone of the meeting was not exactly as stated in the enclosed memo., which I furnished to Mr. Wood the same evg. on my return to Town. I withheld what I will presently state -- knowing that Your Honor would not wish that any unnecessary alarm should be promulgayed than could be helped -- Hori Nia Nia and his tribe together with the Porangahau
