Napier 27th July 1867 Sir I have the honor to inform you that a report reached Napier on the 25th Instant that the Waikato Hau Hau's were assembling in rear of Taupo with the intention of disturbing the peace of this Province. I am happy to state that Mr. Locke has seen the native letters containing the said intelligence and he attaches no importance whatever to the rumour. Lieut. St. George has gone to the borders of the Province and should he return before the departure of the next mail Steamer I shall report any news he may bring.
