May 25th. 1865 My dear Sir Would you be kind enough to authorize me to procure a stove of some description in Napier, as the men are all being laid up with colds and sore throats in the Block House the nights here are very cold and the Block house far from weather tight. My brother is away at Mahia, on his return he starts for Port he would have been there some time ago but hearing you were on your way up he was afraid of missing you. Everything is quiet here. Kopu and his friends are all anxious to see you. I am my dear Sir Faithfully yours S. Deighton.
