Pelichet and Harris arrived overland from wellington. 5 Posted usual report and native correspondence to you by this days overland mail to Wellington. The "Cicely", Liddel, from Manukao, cargo 10000 ft. timber. 6 The barque "Lord William Bentinck", 461 tons, - Canney - 11 days from Auckland with passengers and goods for this place. Honi Ropiha came to Barracks. 7 Mr. Pelichet left on his return to Wellington. 8 Posted native correspondence to you. The "Cicely" sailed for Manukao with a general cargo. 9 Overland mail from Auckland. 10 General muster and drill. Tamati Waka, of Waitara, v. T. Candish alleged written agreement to purchase a quantity of wheat @ 8/6 per bushel. The agreement was produced and found to be defective - case dismissed. Overland mail from Wellington. Hakopa resumed Town duty. Rawiri Waiaua came to Barracks. 11 Parade at ten oclock. 12 Posted native correspondence to you. The Annual Meeting of Members of Taranaki Book Club was held at the Police Office. Mr. Alexander King delivered a lecture on ethello. The infant school, in which the lecture was delivered, was crowded to excess. The clear and masterly manner in which the lecturer treated the subject, elicited general satisfaction. 13 Force engaged cleaning arms at Police Office. Overland Mail left for Auckland. 14 Toheroa came to Barracks, he was looking ill. The "Ld. William Bentinck", sailed for Wellington - additional passenger Mr. Cuttress. His Honor Chief Justice Martin arrived from Whanganui. 15 Court Day. No case. E Piha, attached to the Whanganui Police, arrived with a letter for the Chief Justice. The "Elizabeth" sailed for Manukao, passengers, T. Candish, J. W Wilson, Mr. Armstrong. 16 W. Martin Esq. left for Auckland. 17 General muster and drill. Attended at Resident Magistrates Office.
