My dear Sir, As the 'Queen' goes tomorrow and I leave for Kaipara today and as Monro who has gone to Napier will tell you all about my attempt to get to Napier on a visit to see see I have very little to tell you about myself. I received your letters about my removal to Napier. Why I would sacrifice all my property to do that and I know you would not wish me to lose what I have been striving for for years. Fenton proposes that I should make say two trips a year to Napier to hold Courts and as the Surveys will require to be made before hand why I can keep any number of Surveyors at work and hold only about 3 or 4 Courts in the year in all Kaipara Mahurangi and Whanganui besides being Magistrate. Mount Albert is doing well Mrs. Ham and all desire to be remembered to you but they wont let me go to Napier to stop. I have told you that I have purchased 1000 acres at Kaipara suitable-to my views and I am waiting every day to hear from you and hope will soon be able to send me the £600 to pay for it. I am compelled to call upon you for this now as I cannot get the money here. So you will not fail me now as I am in need I know you will not as you never failed me yet. I received the £100 all right and sent you the a/c some time ago - I shall write to you again at Kaipara. Yours Ever, J. Rogan 26 Oct. 65.
