Any person wanting to construct a and of being allowed payment for it in land, must apply to the Commissioner; who, on being satisfied with the plans and specifications, may authorise the work. When the work is completed, and has been passed, the person who did it is to receive Land Scrip to the extent of one half the value of the work. This Land Scrip is to be received any time within three months of date of issue; and can be ex-ercised over General Rural Land open for sale or se-lection in the District, Block, or County, where the work is situated. No greater sum is to be paid in Land Scrip to any one person, than £300 in one year; and the particulars of the work, and of the Land Scrip, are to be published in the Gazette. Excludes the Province of Auckland from above Regulations. A proclamation of the 12th. August 1871 renders them applicable to the Province of Auckland, from the 1st. September 1871.
