Wairoa March 14th 1865 Dear Sir I have been obliged to pay Paul Rerepu the £250 out of the money in hand, I did not think it was necessary at the time to state that I knew all about the dispute between Paul and Kohea and that a meeting of all parties took place, before the sale, also that the £250, was not for Hinepaka - I have sent full particulars of the purchase to Mr. McLean - I shall require £1000 - a least - I hope in less than one month from this date - I think that it would be only fair that all letters connected with these purchases were sent to me, and that Govt. officers were informed not to tell Natives that I have nothing to do with the purchases going on here that I am only here to survey the Blocks and nothing more - I remain, Dear Sir Your Obt.St. S.
