Of course I cannot act in the Tarewa case so on that ground alone it wd. require your interference. I begin to hope that the Inglis boundary case will be easier to settle than it seemed at first. Confound these Natives, they are getting harder to manage every day. I fear the exceptional laws and complicated machinery won't suit Hawkes Bay, and very much do I think that a certain gallant Col. is "not the right man in the right place". You have seen the Colenso case of course. The Revd. W.C. is the next Supt. of Hawke's Bay. Oh dear! oh dear!
