Dear McLean, Mackay seems eager to get into a personal controversy with Sir George. I think that it would be a mistake to do so. There is sure to be a Parliamentary enquiry about the business and there I think is the place for his defence. Grey's proceedings are very nasty and very ungentlemanly but he will do himself most harm in the long run. Yours always, truly, Daniel Pollen June 26/75
