June 15, 1857 My dear Sir, A meeting consisting of Ikamoana, Mahoetahi, Moturoa and a few Waiwakaiho natives, was held last week at Huirangi, to consider the propriety of invading the Ngatiruanui district in satisfaction for the past, but from all I can learn the proposal is likely to result in urging for payment for the Ikamoana leaving the Ngatiruanuis to take umbrage if they like and expose themselves to another defeat. Tamati te Ito is engaged this morning at the Hua making the sacred places there, common. I am unable to go down this mng. however as the same ceremony is to be repeated over the district, opportunities for witnessing it, will not be wanting. Nothing fresh in reference to the Ikamoana. Faithfully yours, H. Halse To:- McLean Esq. I have bought the paper applied for, from Mr. Gray, our Post Master, it is good and reasonable. H. H.
