Aotea, June 13th. 1860. D. McLean, Esq. Sir, The Messrs Yates called upon me this afternoon. They informed me that this part is blockaded as well as Kawhia - that no vessel or trade will be permitted to come into this harbour. Now it is my intention to build a small vessel to run between this and Manakau, but of course if the above be correct, it is useless to do as I intend. Will you have the kindness and favour me with a note, and say whether Aotea is or blockaded - and also as to whether I am permitted to trade with Kawhia Natives. I am Sir, Your obedient servant, William Edwards.
