had every right to fly his flag. Finding nothing could be done in that quarter, they tried the Wakaki,- where Paora, Karori, and others state they will not touch the flag. But the discontented have so far succeeded as to be able to get up a Runanga to consider the matter at the Wakaki. I trust, with care, and proper precautions, to avert this difficulty, and to keep this district quiet until the natives settle down again to their former state of peace; which many are doing, and the others will soon do the same, if these small after claps(?) are properly attended to.
