. . Taupo. Nov. 2 1870. Capt. Preece, Received your telegram of yesterday, stating that four of Te Kooti's men had come in from the Wera. You acted judiciously in allowing them to remain at Ahikereru during their illness. Tareha will send Riorihia to bring out Paerau. You are authorized to invite Kepa to Ahuru to come out, as I do not believe that he deserted intentionally. You can keep him attached to you in the force. I will communicate with you at a future time with reference to other portions of your memorandum. (Signed) Donald McLean.
