Clive Grange Mch 18th /64 My dear McLean I have sent Carter a notice not to pay Mr. Lincoln any Salary after the present quarter for Clive School. I have an applicant for the vacant situation, who will answer our purpose at least for a time; but I should much like to get an efficient teacher out from home as soon as possible - I must have a talk with Mr. Barclay on this point - There was a small sum of money voted last session P. C. for fencing in the land around the School at Clive and the lock up also. I think the former should certainly be fenced at once which would make the place more attractive to teacher and scholar if nicely planted. If you will inform me of the amount I may use for the purpose I will superintend the erection of a fence round the school at once, and get it done as cheaply as possible, so that during the ensuing season I can plant a few trees around the place. Yours very truly Joseph Rhodes
