"Whanganui" May 14, 72 4 p.m. Dear Sir, I beg to forward you herewith copy of memorandum given by me to Hon.W.Fox during your absence -together with letter from Superintendent - also tracing of award given by me to Kemp for withdrawal of his claims - I have supplied every information on these subjects generally - and cannot say I am pleased with the treatment I have met with during your absence from Wellington - I would have written more fully if time had allowed - Major Kemp will tell you a great deal about matters and of the good understanding existing between enrollers - You will I am sure be content when I say I have worked very hard, accomplished a great deal - and feel certain that the result at which we aim is in progress of fulfillment - Referring to your letter re Chief Surveyorship I never claimed the title - I merely said that I was in effect called upon to exervise the powers, and indeed progress would be slow if I couldn't. I beg to remain dear Sir Your most obedt. Servt. George B. Worgan The Hon: D. McLean Auckland
