Melford Cottage, Napier 3rd May 1861 My dear McLean, I received your kind note from Waiuku, but address this to Auckland as I presume you have returned to Head quarters by this train. Lock has left, and is employed by the Provincial Government Cooper down here, doing as much as usual, he is about to go to Wellington (I believe by next ''Swan'') the Arapawanui etc. near Waikare, land will be surveyed by the end of the month, altho I am still lame, I will proceed thitherwards
