Wallingford June 10th, 1863 Dear McLean, The Porangahau natives thro' Paul Ropeha have applied to me to know of medical assistance can be given them as they are suffering from a severe epidemic I conclude the medical officer who gets paid for this service could be made available. Will you give him Instructions to visit the Porangahau natives without delay. There is no news to give you from inland. I have seen Hori Pori who returned with Karaitiana from the West Coast. They the natives as you will have heard have a different version of the causes of the late murders. I know however that the letter contained all this hasbeen sent on to you so need not say more. Their sympathies are with their own people but they do not join the Whaiwhai. They tell me Ngatirakau is going to Tarranaki. Yours always, J. D. Ormond
