Napier, Feby. 25th, 1865. Sir, Permit me to express a sincere hope that the change of scenery and clime have materially improved your Honors health - Since your departure up to the present nothing particular has occurred - An Earthquake was felt in Napier on Monday 20th Inst. at about 5 1/2 o'clock - the shake lasted about 40 seconds and was of an easy undulating motion - apart from the inexpressible feeling which a person experiences during its continuation "of not knowing what is coming" the sensation was agreeable. I neglected to enquire if I should forward the H.B.Herald regularly to your address, will you be kind enough to instruct me thereon - 150 of the (Pai Marire) Waikato natives are at present paying a visit to Hawkes Bay, their reception by Renata and other natives about here was anything but friendly
