Stafford Redoubt Wairea 11th. January 1869. 8 p.m. Sir, I have the honor to state that Mr. Goullet Felix has just returned from his Station, Patumumu; and informs me that he saw the horses (belonging to Waata), reported in mine of the 8th. inst., to have been stolen by a supposed body of Hau Haus, some 5 miles this side of his place (a native accompanied him). He further states that no signs of any enemy are visible in the neighbourhood of Patumum; or, apparently, of their having been there since his leaving, some 3 weeks ago. Two Troopers have just returned from being all round the distriet; and
