Whakatiwai 24th Octr. /1857 My Dear Sir, I hope the £25 for which I now enclose a deed, has been approved by the Govt. otherwise it will appear that I have been paying the money without authority. I have had fearful weather since I left Auckland and had my tent blown down twice and everything saturated with rain. I have only time to say as the bear is anxious to avail himself of the tide, that I am going to make an attempt to reach the heads tonight if possible and I hope to be back again in three weeks
