Private. Wellington 23 Jany. 1867 Dear Mr. McLean Richmond refused to alter the boundaries of the East Coast District so as a last resource I wrote to Johnson who I am glad to say takes the same view of the affair that I do. I hear there is to be a meeting of Council this afternoon when it will be finally settled I shall remain in Napier till after the mail steamer at the beginning of next month arrives in order that I may proceed to Turanga with the governments ultimatum I am just off on board the Wellington. I have not heard anything about being R.M. The Ministers who are here are afraid of their shadows. Yours in haste Reginald Newton Biggs.
