Napier 26th Sept/67 Dear Maclean, Arrived here last night from Wellington whence I wrote to you to say that I had commenced work in Hawkes Bay as a Land agent and Surveyor. Nothing in Government at the present to suit me. We were glad to see that you had even now purchased land. I often think new institutions may in some instance cause disputes (indirectly by the sub divisions of money amongst the Natives) which will eventually lead to large sales to Government write to say if you will come down at all to this place. Very truly yours, M. Fitzgerald. Tom Russell Solicitor is a strong man in the present Ministry. Will you try and get me some work Native or Europeans viz. as Land Agent or Surveyor.
