Wallingford Jan. 19th./62 My dear McLean, I have only time to write a line in reply to yours by last weeks mail and Carters mem. by this. I return the latter with a mem. on it. The Harbour or rather Boat regulations are well enough but they seem meagre to me - surely it will be better to see what Regulations they have in other Provinces and adopt the best. You sent no mem. about selling more Wairoa lands. I should say sell what is wanted to meet present demand. About rams I would not advise you to try the Leicester crop at Ahuriri. It wd. never do there - at Maraekakaho it would doubtless do well - the rams I wrote you about are very good - the best I have seen that have been brought to Auckland. Tell Richardson if you think you will want them. I must close to save mail Yours always J.D. Ormond.
