Oct. 1866 My dear McLean, The orderlies now in Napier and those at Waipukurau have orders a copy of which I meant to have sent to you. In Town there are 3 men properly dressed - and mounted and they are directed to have one man always with his horse tied up ready for duty - who will parade mounted at the Militia office, daily, to be inspected and relieve the man on duty the day before. Any other orders you think of Fraser will give them. The inland people also are directed to be at your disposal and to forward all letters signed on the outside by you - If you wish to suggest anything please do - Truly yours G.S. Whitmore
