October 27th. 1850. Dear Sir, I have to apologise a memo, im place of a private letter. However I should only bother you with usual vexations, had I done so; and no doubt you have cares enough of your own. So far as I know, all is peace and quiet here. How long it will last, I cannot say. There is a general outcry for Military, at last; and the sooner they come, the better. What do you think about the chance? Will, or will they not, be allowed by Government? Hoping you are well, I remain dear Sir, Yours very sincerely (Signed) H. Halse. To:- D. McLean Esq.
