Opotiki June 17th 1870 Dear Colonel, Just a line by Delaney to say Hira Te Popo with 30 of his people came in this morng. I have put them in the Pah and done all Mair told me to regarding them, no news out of them yet, must let them settle and see then what one can pump out of them - no other native news - This Chief has been out ever since Volkner's murder - Kelly's storekeeper has no account against Govt. for forage for the month of May for this place, so he tells me, the few feeds that may have been had he hasn't charged for - Rain setting in again, lively look out. When writing send me any spare papers you may have, as one never sees one here - Believe me Yrs. sincerely Fred Swindley
