New Zealand Steam Navigation Company. Napier, 16th September, 1865. His Honor The Superintendent. Sir, As Agent for the above Company I have the honor to bring to your notice the loss occasioned to the Company by the delay on the part of the Pilot in bringing the S. S. Rangatira into the Harbor. Captain Mundle was told last evening that he could enter the Iron Pot at Noon today - and for the convenience of Passengers and Consignees he kept the luggage and Cargo on board, altho he was prepared to put them into Punts upon arrival. He has had steam up since 10 O'Clock this Morning and I am told by the Pilot at 2 p.m. that he cant bring the "Rangatira" in - As she is a Mail Steamer under contract with the Government I would respectfully submit to your Honor the desirability of instructing the Pilot to give preference to Mail Steamers in placing them into a berth as soon as possible for the discharge of Cargo. I have the honor to be, Sir, Your obedient Servant, Janisch, Agent.
