New Zealand, Government House. Novr. 1/70 My dear Vogel, I have just had a letter from Commodore Stirling telling me that the "Galatea" will be at Auckland in the early days of December; and that he (the Commodore) will come in the "Clio" about the same time. The "Virago" will be here about . I think you had better have this announced in the "Cross," adding that the "Galatea" will be in Auckland Harbour for about a month, during which time the Duke will visit the Hot Lakes etc. Pray write today about the "Luna" - she should be here a fortnight before the Duke's arriwal to be painted etc. She should go to the Lakes as soon as possible after his arrival, as the weather gets so hot afterwards. Have you got a Sydney Morning Herald or "Argus" with the full telegrams? Ever yrs. G. F. Bowen
