Otawhao Sepr. 11, 56 Dear Sir I am much obliged to you for the trouble you took in reference to the thrashing Machine. It arrived here in safety last week. It is not so heavy as I expected to find it. I think that we shall be able to get it about without much difficulty. The lower frame on which the horse power rests was not sent with the machine, nor the-bolts and nuts to secure the horse power down to the frame. If left behind in town and very heavy, a drawing of the frame with the size of the timbers would be acceptable to us, but I do not think that it would now be worth the expense of carriage. We shall be very glad of the bolts --- I hope to hear that you have been able to arrange for me for the Winnowing Machine in lieu of the one sold by the Government, i.e. for the purchase of one either in Auckland, Sydney, or England. I suppose that it was sold in order to enable the Govt. to claim the Insurance such being the case the Government cannot object to reorder it at least from England. Should any difficulty arise about the paying of the freight of a second Winnowing machine, I would either pay it myself, or it might be sent to the Church Missionary House, Salisbury Square, London, directed to me. I am very sorry to give you so much trouble, but the machine is rather an important article to our District. The Thrashing Machine is comparatively speaking not of much use without it. I remain, Dear Sir, Yours truly Jno. Morgan Mr. who accompanied your Brother to Ahuriri has returned here. Dr. Harsant has seen him and informs me that he got his horses there quite safe, J.M. D. McLean Esqr. Auckland
