Memo. for the Honorable the Native Minister. Reverting to a conversation I had with you this morning in reference to my application to retire from the Civil Service in accordance with a minute of Cabinet on my first letter -- I confess I feel somewhat disappointed that the promise then made is not given effect to at once as should it so happen that a change in the Government takes place I might be put in an unfavorable position. I would therefore respectfully suggest for your favorable consideration that the time of my retirement be definitely fixed now -- and lest the Government be caused any inconvenience by my leaving while the General Assembly is in Session I submit this His Excellency the Governor be advised to sign the order for my pension at once fixing the date of retirement for 1st. of December 1866. Hy. T. Clarke. 15.8.76
