My dear McLean, I am making up an Estimate of our Expenditure, and with regard to the rations of the men at Waiapu and Poverty Bay I am not sure I quite understood from you yesterday what they are costing. Did you say those for Poverty Bay are 1/6 per ration and those for Waiapu, we might/calculate at 1/9? Also can you tell me if the General Govt. are incurring any expense at Waiapu or Poverty Bay or at Napier on account of rations to friendly natives.
