April 26/67 My dear Sir As the Natives here are in daily expectation of having visitors in large numbers in consequence of Kopus death, and being rather short of food they have asked me to write to you for Powder and shot, and as the Pigeons are very plentiful it would be a cheap way of providing a little food for the occasion. I think about 6 bags shot large size and about 25 lbs powder with caps would be amply sufficient. As I have a good deal to tell you I shall send in a letter by Mr. Toogood on Monday. The mail gives us such a very short time arriving here late on Thursday night and leaving again early on Friday morning. Things are looking pretty well however at present with the exception of Te Warus going away - I will write fully about it on Monday. I am my dear Sir truly yours S. Deighton.
