House of Representatives, Friday morning. My dear McLean, We cannot possibly get passed the proposed resolution of the House (enabling you to assure the chiefs that they will be called to meet again in a year) till tomorrow. It is necessary to have such a resolution binding the House to provide the money. Consequently I write to ask you to put off the closing of the Native conferences till Saturday by which day we shall no doubt be in a position to enable you to give the required assurances. In great haste, Yours truly, Fred. A. Weld.
