My dear Weld, I received your Note this morning resptg. the St. Kilda. My official will explain the urgent necessity for sending her with arms to the friendly Natives at the East Cape since the receipt of your Note I must send her back as soon as possible, but I shall be dreadfully crippled in present state of affairs on this Coast without her, she has been of great service, and her frequent visits to different parts of the Coast has inspired much confidence among the Europeans and well disposed Natives - I will attend to the Notice about the Meeting of Assembly.
